Borough Finals 2016

STM achieved one of their biggest ever medal hall in the Borough Finals this year. There were fantastic performances across the Year Group teams in both track and field. Some individual highlights are shown below:

 

Joe Trim and Sam Wheatley in Year 9 performed very well in their middle distance races.

Joe Trim placing second in the 1500m and Sam Wheatley winning the 800m race.

 

Tom Cozens in Year 7 won the Javelin competition with a throw over 25m, becoming Borough Champion in his first year at the school.

Chosen Smith came second in the Year 10 boys 200m race, running great races in both the qualifiers and final race.

Thunushan Alagurus finishing second in the 200m Year 7 race, Temi Deru coming second in the high jump event and third in the 300m sprint race- a double medallist.

Eden Bansietoko became the Borough Champion in the 400m race, running a fantastic race in the final, holding in the final 10m to take the winners spot.

Afam Ijeh picture above was victorious in the Year 9 300m after  a powerful display throughout the race.

 

Sam Norris pictured above, who retained his status as Borough Champion in 1500m after a convincing win in the Year 10 finals.

The Year 8 relay team picked up 3rd place after a strong team performance in the final. A special mention to Michael Okafor (3rd from the left) who ran under 11 seconds in the 100m final and was point one of a second off the Borough record.
