Lee Valley 7 & London Cross Country Relay Championships

On Wednesday our pupils travelled over to Lee Valley Athletics Centre for Lee Valley Cross Country Championships.

We travelled with a mini bus full of our best endurance athletes at this stage of the year. The race took place on Lee Valley Golf course.

There was a senior race (year 10 and 11). A Year 7 relay race (four runners) and a junior team race (Years 8 and 9).

Every STM student gave their all and we had some fantastic results which I am hugely proud of.

Our Year 7 team in their debut race:

Micky Jones, Luke Randall, Tom Cozens, Zach Crisp, had a fantastic race, with Zach running the Anchor leg beating the Southend runner in an epic battle on the last 50m section of the course

Our Year 8 and 9 team:

Afam Ijeh, Sam Wheatley, Ted Turnham and Joe Trim. They showed fantastic team spirit, working hard throughout the race, a powerful second leg from Sam and then an impressive run from Joe on leg 4 brought the team through the finish in 3^rd place.

Finally our senior runners:

Elijah Chaplin, Tad Ndoro, Sam Norris and Matthew Norris. Experienced runners for STM, they impressed from the outset, all placing high in the field. However a special mention must go to Sam Norris running against students a Year above, won the race in style and was crowned Lee Valley Champion.
