The Year 7 team battled their way through to the final of the Southend Cup with a nerve-wracking victory over Eastwood. Having lost on penalties to King John in the South East Essex Cup the previous day, the boys were looking to bounce back quickly although it didn’t look promising after a scrappy first half of few chances. Eastwood took the lead 10 minutes into the second half and looked good for the victory, with the STM boys failing to create any clear cut chances. All credit to the boys though, as they kept plugging away and were rewarded after a great run and cross by Salter was turned into his own net by one of the Eastwood defenders. With time ticking away and extra time looming, Okafor hooked a speculative effort high into the air that looped over the keeper to secure the win. Another battling performance from the team sees them into their first final.
