Year 10 Rugby Opening Round Essex Cup Success

Our Year 10 rugby team travelled away to Ilford on Tuesday of this week, venturing into London to Oaks Park School, in the opening round of the Essex Rugby cup.

Our boys were in high spirits all the way to the game and after a long warm up were ready to take on their opposition. STM started strong and it was clear that the opposition could not cope with the power and pace of the team.

Tom Gammer controlled the game at scrum half and capitalised on some quick tap and go penalties to score early on in the game. Cameron Stewart also made a huge run from a line out to score a try early on in the first half. The boys grew in confidence and our forwards started to work together in packs, this created more space for our backs and the tries came thick and fast in the second half. Charles Nielson was hungry for tries and at centre was a force to be reckoned with. A great team performance all round, the final score STM 75 – Oaks Park 5. Keep it up boys!
