Year 7 Football v King Edmund (Won 9-2)

This was the first competitive match for Year 7 after their two friendly victories over Southend and Westcliff and they couldn’t have asked for a better result. Despite going one nil down to a wind-assisted hoof from the half way line, the team rallied well and were quickly in the lead through goals from Abere and Salter. The team relaxed and started to look dangerous on the counter-attack, with Salter grabbing two more before the break to complete his hat-trick and give us a commanding lead at half-time.

The roll-on sub rule was being used well by Mr Heaphy on the touchline, with all the members of the squad getting game time and a chance to show what they could do in different positions. The second half followed the same pattern, with goals from Barry, Harris and three more from Salter putting the seal on a convincing win. There will be tougher games ahead but you can only beat what is put in front of you. Well done to all the boys and thank you to those who turned out to support.
