Four Year 12 students represented St Thomas More High School on Tuesday in the Regional Final of the Cambridge Union Schools’ Debating Competition. The format of the competition is a demanding one, where speakers are required to make a 5 minute speech in proposition or opposition of a particular motion with only 15 minutes preparation. The two topics for debate were the decriminalisation of squatting and the enforcement of a limit on the amount of wealth a child can receive from a parent. All our speakers gave fine performances and enjoyed the cut and thrust of competition.
Well done Kieran Laking-Morris, Jacob Woods, Niamh Moggan and George Morton.
