Year 8 Borough Cup Final v Southend

A fantastic game of football ended with the talented Year 8 team lifting what we hope to be their first of many trophies. The team made a slow start and allowed their opponents to score early on, although a great headed equaliser from Okafor brought parity midway through the first half. The Tommy More boys looked the most likely to score again, although they conceded a poor goal from a corner. Worse news followed as captain Turnham had to go off with bad foot injury. Cornish came on in his place and did an excellent job as an emergency right back with Alsela moving into the heart of the defence. The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with lots of possession but no reward. With time running out, Salter pounced to pull the boys level again with a calm side-foot finish. Buoyed by the goal, Tommy More took the game to Southend in extra time and deservedly took the lead for the first time with a great long range strike from Gregory. Their opponents had no answer and the final whistle brought scenes of jubilation exactly a year after the tears of defeat in their previous final. Well done to all the boys, not just for this match but the whole season. They remain a credit to the school.

Year 9 Borough Cup Final v Southend

Our Year 9 team convincingly beat Southend 4-2 in their final. A fantastic team effort from the boys, who put in a solid defensive display throughout the game. Southend found it very difficult to break them down and a special mention must go to Thomas Bennet who made some game changing tackles throughout the game. STM were creative in attack, with the driving runs of TJ Chiroro in midfield and goal of the game from powerful boot of Tom Valente. Champions at last!

Year 10 Borough Cup Final v Westcliff

Our Year 10 team beat Westcliff 4-0 to come away Borough Champions.  A special mention to our Year 10 team who also went on to beat Southend in the South East Essex Cup final to win the double.

We are really proud of STM's footballing dominance in the Southend Borough!
