St Thomas More High School

Under 15 County Cricket Quarter Final v St Martin’s – Won by 63 runs

The Under 15 team progress to the semi-final of the County competition thanks to the best team batting display in the school’s recent history. Facing some decent fast bowling having been put in to bat, the scoring rate was slow for the first few overs and Cullen fell looking to accelerate when the spinner came on. This brought Dyos out to join Thomas and from that moment, St Martin’s knew they were in a game. Thomas went on to hit 64 runs from 59 balls, including 10 fours and a six. He should have been run out but poor fielding gave him a second chance from which he didn’t look back. Dyos was equally impressive, hitting 53 form just 33 balls that included four fours and two sixes.

Chasing 151, St Martin’s lost their opener in the first over when who else but Thomas cleaned bowled him for a duck. Wickets fell at regular intervals as Waller, Curtis and Roy all chipped in with wickets at important times. Arif came on at the end to pick up two as St Martin’s finished on 88 for 9, 64 runs short of their target.

Another greta performance from a special team. They now face New Hall in the semi-final next week which will be another big challenge but one that I know they will be up for. If they can replicate this performance then who knows what will happen….?
