St Thomas More High School

7-1 Victory for STM Sixth Form vs Chelmsford

The first away game of the season saw the 1st XI travel to Chelmsford, looking to build upon a fine start against Westcliff last week. If last week was a fine start, then this week was even better.

Every time the team got forward it looked as if something was going to happen. They did what every manager wants from his side and finished the game early. After 14 minutes they found themselves 4 nil up with Afreh getting all four. It was described on the side-line as 'Manchester United's attack vs Manchester United's defence'. Before the half was up Hammond and Follett made it 6-0 with neat finishes. The team took their foot off the pedal in the second half. Conceding two soft penalties, one of which was saved by Boosey, the other converted, gave Chelmsford a consolation goal. This then triggered a good final 15 minute passage of play from STM where they finished the game by scoring a seventh as Rowe’s fantastic leap and headed struck the post and went in off the diving goalkeeper. Another great result that leaves the 1st XI with six points from six. Attention now turns to the cup competitions, starting today when the side travels to Southend High.
