Berlin Trip

Last week, the AS history students headed to Berlin, Germany. Here they increased their knowledge and understanding of Nazi Germany. This is in order to help them gather the information they need for their A2 coursework.

In Berlin we visited a German workers camp where we learnt about how Germans were forced to do slave labour as well. Also we visited Sachenhausen, a concentration camp, here we were all moved by the events that happened and took away the feeling that this should never happen again. We had a fantastic and interesting tour about the Reichstag building and learnt how politics in Germany has changed in the last 100 years. We went into a Nazi air-raid shelter and experienced the conditions that the German women and children would have had to endure during the British bombing raids. We visited loads of other sites too, but it was nice to have the fine evening to go to the top of the TV tower (200m high) and have a bird’s eye view of this interesting and diverse city. I would like to say thank you to Mr Marshall for helping us on the trip.
