St Thomas More High School

Waterloo 200: Live Q&A with TV Historian Dan Snow

On Wednesday, a small group of Yr9 students joined Mr Shearman and Mrs Ackred to listen to a live Q&A session hosted by The Waterloo 200 Schools Project. The project has involved our school and 199 others in researching aspects of the Battle of Waterloo. The Q&A session with the project’s patron, TV historian Dan Snow was held in the conference room. Mr Snow addressed a range of questions about Napoleon, Wellington and the significance of the battle to world history. It was an enlightening experience and the full video of the session will be shown to the rest of the students involved in research at a later date.

The project has included student led research and will be included in the Waterloo 200 book to be published later in June. This is in addition to Mrs Ackred and Yr9’s Tino Chaviri attending the national memorial service at St.Paul’s Cathedral later next month. Below is the link to the research led by the students. I hope you will join me in congratulating those involved and wishing them well as the project continues.
